To Our Army of Crafters Across the UK

To our army of crafters across the UK…

We have to start with a massive thank you for your constant donations of knitted/crocheted blankets. At least one blanket gets donated to us every day! This is amazing and we are so lucky to have this support!

We love receiving donations through the post containing letters with a back story but we equally really enjoy our troops coming to the office to drop off their hard work! Please continue to do both of these, we love hearing a bit about yourselves and why you chose to donate your time and effort to us!

Between 2020 and 2024 Forget-Me-Notts gave out 1487 of your crafted blankets! That is just over one donation of a blanket every single day for 4 years! We received some feedback from a crafter at the beginning of 2025 – they said they spend a couple of hours per day for four weeks making a blanket. They spend £24 on EBay for wool and use between 1.5/2KG of wool per blanket. This means they make roughly twenty-two blankets per year! This is extraordinary and we are ever so lucky to have support like this. We love to hear your stories so please come share some more with us. Below are some donations of crafted blankets on the ends of children’s beds given to referrals in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Stats for 2024:

We started our bed installation in 2017 and since then we have an average of 208 beds made per year!

In 2024 - as a charity and due to so many generous donations we were able to help 482 children which included providing 223 beds and 268 blankets

Here is some feedback received about the work we do to ensure children are as comfortable and loved as possible:

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to you and the entire Forget-Me-Notts team. The child who received the mattress, bed, and extras was overjoyed and excited about her new sleeping setup. It's a beautiful reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in a child's life.”

We have had loads of fabulous feedback about colourful warm blankets that provide vulnerable children with warmth and comfort. Not only do they help with practical needs but also makes the children feel cared for by their community. This might not sound like a lot but they symbolise compassion and solidarity, demonstrating the communities around standing together showing mutual support.

Your blanket donations fosters strong community bonds as they are such powerful tools which make a huge positive impact to children’s lives.

A lot of volunteers come in and tell us the mental positive impacts making these blankets have on their own wellbeing. If you find that you want to pick up a hobby which has no time pressure on it and will become second nature (with practice) then why not pick up knitting/ crochet? This will not only keep you occupied for a few hours per day but will also go towards a child who really needs to be shown some love and care.

Please keep up your craft! :)
