Celebrating the Swimathon
A few months ago, some of Nottingham High School’s students organized and carried out a swimathon fundraiser for us! We are so grateful to everyone who participated in this event. The students raised an impressive £2,137.24 which we are absolutely blown away by! Well done team!
From Nottingham High School-
‘In January, 31 students took part in the first ever Nottingham High School charity swimathon. This event was entirely organized, promoted and managed by Ujesh in Year 12, who wrote this summary of the event and his motivation for doing it:
“Each student had 45 minutes to swim as many lengths as they could. Throughout the event perseverance was displayed as students pushed themselves until the final whistle was blown. The results collected were extraordinary with 4 students achieving over 100 lengths, and Harry (in Year 11) taking the top spot with 117 lengths. Each swimmer had requested sponsorship from their friends and family, and collectively we raised £2137.24 for Operation Orphan. This is Mellers’ House charity and aims to keep orphans and vulnerable children around the world safe, warm, healthy, and learning. After visiting my hometown in India on many occasions, the most heart-breaking aspect is always the abandoned and vulnerable children who have been born into a life with no parents to look after them. Operation Orphan supports children like this world-wide, and provides them with that essential helping hand, in the hope of giving them a better future.”’
We are so appreciative of Nottingham High School, Ujesh, and the team for putting in the effort (and enthusiasm!) to host such a brilliant fundraiser for us. They absolutely smashed the event, and we are so proud and grateful for these student’s support. Thank you so much to all of those who were involved.
