Fundraising in Wing

Mark and his wonderful family invited the WHOLE team into their home in Wing, Rutland for tea and cake on the Sunday afternoon of the tour in April.

We were really happy to have met such lovely people.  I was even more thrilled when Mark phoned last week to ask where he should send his fundraising cheque to!  Here’s the letter I received shortly after:

“With this letter I enclose a cheque for £650 in aid of Operation Orphan.  These funds were raised through a village event in Wing. We invited Jali Fily, a gentleman from southern Senegal, to play the Kora and sing for the whole village.   The event also included an art auction and a very busy meal afterwards in the bottom of out garden – rather like the one your Hope Alive runners experienced as they passed through Wing last summer!

We continue to be in awe of the work you and the team at Operation Orphan do, and hope to keep ourselves updated and support you further in the future.”

We are so grateful for their support.  They’ve even agreed to welcome the runners back next April for the second tour!

Thanks Mark, Angela, all the artists, Mr Jali Fily and everyone in the beautiful village of Wing.
