From Nottingham to Moldova
We had the opportunity to join an Operation Orphan team in Moldova for a week to distribute clothing to school children in rural villages.
Despite only being a three-hour flight away we found ourselves on mud roads meeting children wearing borrowed clothes so they could come to school, to receive warm clothes of their own.
We were welcomed by smiling faces and treated to local cuisine (most of which was delicious!). During the week we gave 1300 Children a bag full of warm winter clothes - which would have cost each child the equivalent of £60 if bought locally. A labourer’s average wage is £60 a month. These clothes Keep a Child Warm and for many they Keep a Child learning by enabling them to go to school.
Huge thanks to the staff at my secondary school, who brought in a boot full of warm clothing for Operation Orphan before we left.
